NEWSROOM SUBMISSIONS

Recognition and reverence are the root of community here at Hailey’s Archive. The stories written by those unpublished are essential for enriching the lifestyle media landscape with fresh perspectives and engaging content. Whether you’re an established writer or a budding content creator, understanding how to craft and submit lifestyle beat articles can significantly enhance your visibility and impact. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the process, and how to get your work published to us at H.A. and beyond.

Understanding the Lifestyle Beat

Health and wellness, fashion, travel, food, home design, and personal development encompass all of what the lifestyle beat covers. Each category appeals to readers seeking inspiration, practical tips, and relatable experiences. As a contributing writer, your expertise is everything.

Researching Potential Outlets

Before submitting your article, it’s important to ensure if such content aligns with us at Hailey’s Archive. This isn’t about being accepted by us–are we acceptable to you? Consider the following:

  1. Target Audience: Hailey’s Archive has an audience purely centered around Gen-Z motivations and experiences. Is that what you want for your work?

  2. Editorial Guidelines: We provide specific guidelines for submission and adhering to such is essential. View our editorial guidelines here.

  3. Recent Articles: Review our recent articles. This will help you align your submission with our current content strategy. Have a new angle? Visit our contact page and select Newsrooms as your relevancy–we’d love to hear from you!

Crafting Your Article

Once you’ve identified if we’re a good fit for you, it’s time to draft your article. Here are key elements to include:

1. Compelling Headline

Your headline should grab attention while succinctly conveying the article's topic in 5-7 words (or less). Use action words and numbers when appropriate. For example, "5 Steps to Elevate Your Morning Routine" is more enticing than "Morning Routines." The Purdue University AP Style page has amazing insight on titles and beyond.

2. Engaging Intro

Start with a leading sentence that draws readers in. This could be a personal anecdote, a surprising statistic, or a thought-provoking question that encapsulates the entirety of the point you’re trying to prove…in less than 34 words. Ensure your introductory graph has the 3 S’s: Short, Sweet, & Sets-the-tone for the rest of the article.

3. Well-Researched Content

Support your claims with credible sources and data. Wikipedia is not one of them. This adds authority to your writing and builds trust in your expertise. Take your own pictures, make your own graphs, by all means–prove your point!

4. Clear Structure

Organize your article with subheadings, bullet points, or numbered lists to improve readability. A well-structured article helps readers navigate the content easily. Consider the inverted pyramid structure of writing from Purdue University.

5. Personal Voice

Infuse your personality into the writing. Lifestyle articles thrive on relatability, so don’t hesitate to share personal experiences or insights that connect with your audience and H.A.’s clients.

6. LEAVE YOUR MARK

Put your contact information you would like to share with everyone! List URL’s for additional information on the topic you’re advising! Summarize without repeating. Beautifully done!

Please note that we only accept email, social media, or webpage contact information. Let’s not have someone stalking you…thanks!

Submitting Your Article

After finalizing your draft, it’s time to submit. Here’s how:

  1. Follow Submission Guidelines: Ensure your article adheres to the specific guidelines of Hailey's Archive.

  2. Include your Reverence Review: Send us an email introducing yourself! Summarize your article and why you’re here. (Keep it short, please).

  3. Be Patient: Response times can vary. We will reach back out to you within 48-72 hours, but editing can take up to 2 weeks depending on content.

  4. Final Drafts Due: Remember, final drafts are due before the 1st of each month, so plan your writing and revisions accordingly. Didn’t meet the deadline? No worries, there’s always next month. No need to re-submit.

At Hailey's Archive, writers and content creators alike are encouraged to share their insights on an additional platform without having to create their own. By crafting compelling and reliable content (without taking ourselves too seriously), we can boost each other’s reverence and gain the recognition us creatives deserve.
